I am a former public school math teacher who is committed to helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to succeed in math. I’m passionate about teaching a student the "why" behind a solution rather than memorizing steps, because that leads to better understanding and retention of concepts.
I strongly believe that every student has the ability to learn, and I balance those high expectations with the patience, encouragement, empathy, and extra support that students need in order to achieve their potential.
I have over 20 years of success teaching and tutoring junior high and high school math, with expertise in:
General Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Illinois, earning a degree in secondary education with a math major. I also hold a State of Illinois Teaching Certificate for grades 6-12 math.
