One-on-One Individualized Math Lessons
I believe that one-on-one, in-person tutoring sessions are so important for a student who struggles to learn in the traditional school setting.
If I’m sitting beside a student, helping him or her with math homework, I can notice mistakes and help to correct them right away. This avoids the frustration of completing an entire assignment incorrectly and the confusion that can quickly result. It also allows me to recognize any gaps in prior learning and address them so the student can better understand the current topic.
Knowing the student’s weaknesses on daily assignments helps me to individualize review lessons for upcoming quizzes and tests, as well.
As I work with a student, I teach organizational and study skills that can also be used in other classes and even beyond school.
With parent and student permission, I am willing to initiate communication with the classroom teacher in order to create a team of support for the student.
